Reykjanes, located in the southwestern part of Iceland is where you can find many popular places such as the Blue Lagoon or the Keflavik International Airport.
Reykjanes is an active volcanic area, and the landscapes are constantly reminding you of it. Lava fields, Hot springs, boiling mud, volcanic craters, and more ... Reykjanes is an efficient display of Iceland´s moon-like nature and landscape.
Since 2021, this volcanic activity on the peninsula started to show up above ground level, with the first eruption on the Fagradalsfjall volcano in over 6000 years. This eruption lasted for 6 months (Our tour gets you close to the fresh lava field) and has been followed by two other eruptions, in 2022 and 2023. More eruptions are very likely to happen in the near future, as this volcano has entered a new phase of activity.
Reykjanes is a fascinating part of Iceland, that is justifyingly gaining in popularity after it's been overlooked by tourists for way too long.
As mentioned a few lines above, the worldwide famous Blue Lagoon is located on the peninsula. This is a perfect way to finish a day of sightseeing. Please contact us if you want to incorporate the Blue Lagoon into your tour. Should you prefer to visit the Sky Lagoon, we can also arrange a stop there on the way back.
We also offer the possibility to combine this tour with a hike. A 20km hike to the sites of the 3 last eruptions of the Fagradalsfjall volcano. Even if the eruptions are over, the freshly solidified lava fields are still steaming and the vistas on the newly formed craters, surrounding valleys, and the ocean, are absolutely astonishing.
